The Clerk is the recorder of all instruments required or authorized to be recorded in one general series of “Official Records” books. Upon payment of the statutory fees the Clerk records and indexes a variety of important documents which in most cases are related to real estate. Examples of such documents include deeds, mortgages, liens, contracts, affidavits, subdivision plats, declarations of condominium, bills of sale, judgments, declarations of military discharge and declarations of domicile.
Free Law Library Located in Recording Department
The Clay County Clerk of the Circuit Court, Tara S. Green, is pleased to provide an expanded, free Law Library. Located inside the Clay County Courthouse’s Recording Department, this Law Library provides two computer stations at which citizens and attorneys can view commonly used databases and secondary sources online. Access to Lexis Advance, an online legal research tool, will begin in October 2017 and will allow users to view more than 60,000 sources related to public records, news, business and other legal-related information free of charge. Specifically useful to local users, is access to State of Florida and federal (11th Circuit and Supreme Court rulings) case law. In addition to the two computer stations, the Law Library will continue to provide access to a set of hard-copy legal reference books and other secondary resources. Especially for citizens who choose to be self-represented in court, this access is very important. For more details about the Clerk’s Law Library please contact General Counsel Justin Horan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
