The holidays are here and that means the Christmas and New Year break for students and teachers. It also means you might be looking for something new and interesting to do to keep those children and out-of-town guests entertained. Our Clay County Historical Archives, a service of the Clay County Clerk of Court, can help.
The Archives, Old County Jail and 1890 Courthouse will be open with extended holiday season hours and available to visitors on these four dates only from 9am-5pm:
- Monday, December 18, 2017
- Thursday, December 28, 2017
- Tuesday, January 2, 2018
- Wednesday, January 3, 2018
Clay County Archive Specialist Vishi Garig will be on site to welcome visitors. Families can view historical displays about events in Clay County history, view files and photos about famous people and places, tour the Old Jail’s archaic cell blocks (a great place for photos) and visit the stately courtroom in the 1890 Courthouse. You can even inquire about your family’s genealogy and run a free online search. Call ahead (Vishi Garig at 904-371-0027), send an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or just stop by during these special holiday dates/times. The Clay County Archives is located at 21 Gratio Place & State Road 16 in Green Cove Springs and is part of the county’s Historic Triangle.
