Today is Law Day 2018, a date set aside nationally by the American Bar Association to reflect on how the justice system is working for citizens. Locally, the Clay Bar held a Law Day luncheon at the Thrasher-Horne Center at which a Teen Court graduate received a $750 scholarship – congrats, Kloe, and thank you, Mr. Thies and Clay Bar members.
At the Clay County Courthouse, we recognized Law Day by presenting Clerk Law Ledesma (that’s right, her name is Law – neat!) with a token of our appreciation for her service to citizens who are summoned for jury duty, as Juror Appreciation Week always coincides with Law Day. Thousands of Clay County citizens are called upon annually to be considered for jury service. We appreciate each and every one who steps forward to serve their fellow citizens – it is what makes our justice system great!
