Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller office personnel are custodians of several million records of varying types. For your convenience and to increase efficiency, we provide many of these documents online. We have a process in place for redacting (removing from view) protected information while allowing access in a reasonable time frame to content that is legally available to the public.
Please Note: Any person preparing or filing a document for recording in the Official Record may not include a social security number in such document unless required by law. Clay County Clerk of Court personnel redact/remove personal social security numbers from all records accessible through our public website utilizing a software search program. If you find our software program failed to remove/redact your social security number, you may request the Clerk/County Recorder redact/remove this information from an image or copy of an Official Record on such Clerks/County Recorders publicly available website. The request must be legible, signed and delivered (in person, by mail, facsimile or electronic transmission) to the Clerk/County Recorder. The request must specify page number(s) on which the social security number appears. No fee is charged for this service.
